Welcome Mahroo, our new Programs Coordinator
Hi everyone, my name is Mahroo (she/her) and I’m excited to be joining Embark Sustainability as the Programs Coordinator for the summer! I’m looking forward to supporting others in their sustainability journeys and working together to create a more just and equitable future for the SFU community through some exciting programs.
” Embark Sustainability is also where I started my sustainability journey as a first-year that didn’t quite know my place or interest in climate action – I just knew I wanted to be involved. —Mahroo Shahbaz
I’m currently finishing up my joint major in Resource and Environmental Management and Business Administration, alongside certificates in Ethics and Sustainable Development. My journey at SFU has really sparked a deep interest in sustainability and building community, a perfect middle ground for me to land at Embark Sustainability!
Embark Sustainability is also where I started my sustainability journey as a first-year that didn’t quite know my place or interest in climate action – I just knew I wanted to be involved. Engaging in Embark Sustainability’s range of programming and getting to collaborate with so many different people really sorted out the rest so I’m excited to be able to support someone else going through a similar experience.
Outside of work and courses, you’ll find me taking endless pictures of my cat and playing some cozy videogames!
Hope to see you all around campus and at events soon 🙂
