Community Kitchen: Savouring the Moments

Date & Time

Wed, May 28, 2025
5:30 PM – 9:30 PM PDT

Location

SUB Community Kitchen, room #2125 – SFU Burnaby

Get ready to Savour the Moments at our first community kitchen of the summer! Amaka Azode is bringing vibrant Nigerian flavours to the table to tell us a story about the significance of food in bringing people together to form deep connections and create long-lasting memories. By delving into the emotional and social aspects of sharing a meal, we’ll uncover the countless ways in which food can act as a bridge between cultures, generations, and personal histories. Come out and enjoy a special space to share your own stories and experiences about memorable meals or special gatherings!

We’ll be making:

  • Jollof Rice: A flavorful rice dish cooked in a tomato sauce with spices, served with Chicken, Plantain and Coleslaw on the side.
  • Pepper Soup: A spicy, broth-based soup made with meat and a variety of spices, known for its medicinal properties.
  • Puff Puff: a snack and dessert made from a simple dough of flour, sugar, yeast, and water

Please be mindful of dietary restrictions. Jollof is vegetarian, and Puff Puff is vegan, but some side dishes and Pepper Soup are not.
