Embark Sustainability Membership
Membership Opt-Out
Embark Sustainability is a resource hub empowering SFU students and allies on their sustainability journeys through dialogue and transformative action. We serve transformative communities by centering anti-oppression, decolonization, and equity in impactful programming, events, and initiatives. Through this work, we spark dialogue and drive action to dismantle oppressive frameworks within institutions and our interconnected climate and food systems.
We are committed to responsibly and transparently serving our membership of over 35,000 SFU students. For a small semesterly levy, our combined resources add up to meaningful collective action, advancing sustainability, and supporting student journeys at SFU and beyond.
We receive $3.50 per full-time and $1.75 per part time student each semester, as set by successful student referendums. All students paying student fees are members of Embark and gain access to our society’s programming and services.
Notably, this includes access to:
- The Embark Studio
- Volunteer opportunities
- Board directorships
- Programming, including Food Rescue, Community Kitchen, Learning Gardens and Student Collectives
- Events and workshops
We understand that not everyone aligns with Embark’s mission and values, or feels that Embark’s programs and services are relevant to them. For these reasons, we created a Member Opt-out and Fee Refund Policy that allows students to withdraw their Embark membership and request a refund.
