About Embark Sustainability

Embark Sustainability is a resource hub empowering SFU students on their sustainability journeys through dialogue and transformative action. Our mission is to empower and resource SFU students and allies in their sustainability journeys. We serve transformative communities by centring anti-oppression, decolonization, and equity in impactful programming, events, and initiatives. Through this work, we spark dialogue and drive action to dismantle oppressive frameworks within institutions and our interconnected climate and food systems.

About the Role

Help build the future of community growing at SFU at our garden work party on Friday, August 15. Embark is looking for one-time volunteers to help move soil from the old Burnaby Learning Garden location (TASC) to the new location at the Maggie Bentson Field, and fill 20 new garden beds.  

This will be labour-intensive work with short breaks throughout each shift. Volunteers will report to and follow instructions from our Gardens Manager, Pablo.

What to bring:

  • Weather-appropriate and comfortable clothing
  • Outdoor footwear
  • Water bottle (snacks and drinks will be provided)

Please use the form below to sign up for one or more 2-hour shifts between 10:00AM and 5:00PM (e.g., 10:00AM – 12:00PM; 12:00PM – 2:00PM). Shifts are flexible. If none of the listed shifts work for you, feel free to include a specific timeframe.
