Embark is a growing, student-led non-profit based out of Simon Fraser University with more than 30,000 members. We empower students to lead positive, sustainable change across the university and in surrounding communities. The Project Assistants plays a critical role in organizing student events and activities for improved cycling accessibility and transportation service to and from SFU campuses. In this exciting role, you will work with other mobility volunteers and Embark staff, while liaising with the Sustainability Mobility Advisory Committee (SMAC), Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS) and the Graduate Student Society (GSS). 


  • Organize the bi-annual Bike to Work Week celebration stations at both Burnaby and Harbour Centre campuses
  • Coordinate regular bike maintenance workshops on campus with local repair shop
  • Connect with other student groups working on improving transportation and cycling, especially the graduate and undergraduate student societies
  • Promote the Burnaby Mountain Gondola as an efficient, low-carbon rapid transportation solution for our region
  • Collaborate with the Media Coordinator to develop online and offline promotion plans, and create relevant blog posts
  • Prepare written materials supporting Embark’s sustainable mobility priorities, including briefings, opinion pieces, and media releases
  • Interact with the university community through in-person engagement and promotion


  • Proficiency with Google products
