As Bill Clinton famously stated, “There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America.” We truly believe this is also the case with social change. That many solutions to the problems we collectively face are already being worked on by incredible people across British Columbia. We want to tell the stories of the social change movement to connect, inspire, and empower change makers to create engagement that goes beyond the click. We want to create a platform that is intertwines the online and offline worlds where individuals can learn, share and be empowered to co-create together. From universities to non-profits to businesses with social mandates beyond just making money, there is incredible work being done to make the world a better place. But too often those stories get lost in the day-to-day work of these incredible people dedicating themselves to making change happen. We want to tell those stories.
Masala Chai Mondays is a pilot webseries where interesting and thoughtful changemakers are interviewed. The concept is that the host will have informal chats with guests over a freshly homemade chai. We hope to leave viewers feeling inspired and motivated to make positive changes in their lives but also in others. This project is a collaboration between Changemakers Vancouver and Dunya Media, two groups who came together looking to capture the wisdom from all backgrounds and spread powerful stories to inspire others.
Impact Goal 1
At least 1000 views per Video. The series will be available for everyone to see on Youtube. Through our email list, Facebook and other social media sites we have roughly 2000 active and engaged Vancouverites that we can easily spread the message and would love to hear what other social innovators have to say.
Impact Goal 2
Audience feedback. Our goal is to have a high audience engagement within the comments section. At the end of each video we will ask our views to share what an area of innovation they would like to see and to nominate other individuals who are social innovators and have a huge impact in their community. With high audience engagement we hope to build an audience that are wanting more than the first seven videos.
