Through hands-on cooking and engaging discussions\, we’ll highlight the importance of supporting local farmers and fostering meaningful relationships between producers and consumers. \nWe’ll be making: \n\nMain dish: Vegetarian spaetzle (typically a type of egg noodle) with mushroom sauce\nSalad: Beet & apple salad\nDessert: Black forest cake\n\nAll recipes have vegan alternatives. \nWhether you’re a seasoned chef or new to the kitchen\, all are welcome! This event is first-come first-serve until we reach capacity\, so we encourage you to register and arrive 10 minutes early. With a love for culinary arts deeply rooted in family traditions\, Sarah finds joy in gathering friends and loved ones around the kitchen to share stories and create delicious meals. As a strong supporter of fair trade principles\, Sarah aims to spread awareness and promote ethical consumption\, nurturing a culture of sustainability and inclusivity within the community kitchen. Excited to share Sarah’s German heritage\, each dish becomes a flavourful journey through culture and tradition. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Event Accessibility\nEmbark Sustainability events are free and open to Embark members which includes Simon Fraser University undergraduate and graduate students\, as well as Embark Associate Members. \nThis event will be held indoors at the SUB Community Kitchen\, room #2125 of the Student Union Building (SUB)\, SFU Burnaby. Accessibility details include: \n\nAs we’ll be addressing sensitive topics\, it’s important that our attendees are able to address their needs in the moment. Attendees are free to opt in and opt out of activities as suits their needs throughout the event\, including exiting and re-entering the event space.\nSome appliances and counter areas of this room are not accessible when using a wheelchair or other mobility aids. The dining/lounge area is accessible when using a wheelchair or other mobility aids.\nWe aim to host a scent-free space. Please refrain from wearing scented products in attendance of this event.\nUnfortunately\, we cannot provide ASL interpretation at this time. We will be providing written recipe instructions.\n\nWe aim to make our events accessible to as many of our community members as possible.
