SUMMARY:Indigenous Led Land Stewardship
DESCRIPTION:Get popcorn and a pen ready! Let’s learn\, reflect\, and advocate for Indigenous-led land stewardship together. \nWe‘ll start off this event by watching a documentary short film by Carter Kirilenko called Salmon Parks\, which follows an Indigenous-led movement to restore British Columbia’s wild salmon population. We’ll then host a facilitated discussion and letter writing session where we’ll advocate for Indigenous land stewardship to those who hold power. \nJoin us to learn more about current Indigenous-led efforts\, ask questions\, and take action! \nOur thanks and recognition to CPAWS-BC for their contribution to the creation of Salmon Parks. \nACKNOWLEDGMENTS\nThis event takes place on the unceded homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish)\, səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh)\, and kʷikʷəƛw̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Nations. \nQUESTIONS\nIf you have any questions about this event\, please contact Desiree Gabriel\, Embark Sustainability’s Programs Manager at programs@embarksustainability.org. \nEVENT ACCESSIBILITY\nEmbark Sustainability events are free and open to Embark members which includes Simon Fraser University undergraduate and graduate students\, as well as Embark Associate Members. \nThis event will be held indoors at AQ 3154\, SFU Burnaby campus.
