But for many\, needing substitutions and accommodations for our food can make us feel embarrassed\, burdensome or picky. This February\, SFU SVSPO\, SFU DNA\, Embark Sustainability and the SFSS Women’s Centre are teaming up to discover how a community of care can adapt to fit people’s differing needs\, abilities and circumstances\, and explore adaptation as a joyful part of cooking that allows us to unlock new possibilities and create fulfilling meals! \nFor this event\, we’ll be exploring how to make tabbouleh or marinara sauce\, two recipes which make very different use of tomato\, onion and garlic. We’ll take time to think about the versatility of these ingredients\, and how adaptable we can be with our food. \nMembers of all gender identities and expressions are welcome 🙂 This event is first come first serve until we reach capacity\, so we encourage you to arrive on time and register to get reminders and updates\, share any access needs\, and give us a better sense of numbers. Thanks and see you there!  \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Land Acknowledgement\nThis event takes place on the unceded homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish)\, səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh)\, and kʷikʷəƛw̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Nations.\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				About the facilitators\nPaola Quirós-Cruz \nPaola Quirós-Cruz is one of the Educators at the Sexual Violence Support & Prevention Office. She will bring us into a new exploration of Latin American flavours while co-creating recipes for change to ignite caring communities. Paola has been cooking since an early age\, and at one moment she considered becoming a chef. She celebrates life and the Doña’s (matriarchs) who have taught her unforgettable and tasty recipes. \n \nBrianna Price \nBrianna Price is the Accessibility Coordinator for the Disability and Neurodiversity Alliance. She has been a picky eater all her life\, and cooking with other neurodivergent people has been a way for her to start respecting these needs. Now\, she loves to make food comfortable and accessible for people\, and hopes to make the process of trying new things feel safe and enjoyable\, no matter one’s needs. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Event Accessibility\nEmbark Sustainability events are free and open to Embark Sustainability members which includes Simon Fraser University undergraduate and graduate students\, as well as Embark Sustainability Associate Members. \nThis event will be held indoors at the SUB Community Kitchen\, room #2125 of the Student Union Building (SUB)\, SFU Burnaby. Accessibility details include: \n\nAttendees are free to opt in and opt out of activities as suits their needs throughout the event\, including exiting and re-entering the event space.\nWe aim to host a scent-free space. Please refrain from wearing scented products in attendance of this event.\n\nWe aim to make our events accessible to as many of our community members as possible.
