This workshop is designed to provide a safe space for participants to process the weight of environmental distress through the powerful art of poetry. Whether you are an experienced writer or a first-time poet\, you’ll have the opportunity to craft verses that help you cope with eco-grief and its emotional toll. \nThe facilitator will guide participants through thought-provoking prompts related to climate equity\, environmental justice\, and personal healing. You are welcome to bring a poem in progress or create something new. \nAt the end of the session\, you will be invited to share your work in an open\, supportive atmosphere. The small\, informal “stage” will offer a platform to voice your feelings and reflections\, creating a collective space for healing through words. Whether you choose to share or simply listen\, this workshop is an opportunity to connect with others who understand the emotional complexities of living in an era of climate change. \n  \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Land Acknowledgement\nThis event takes place on the unceded homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish)\, səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh)\, and kʷikʷəƛw̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Nations.\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				ABOUT THE FACILITATORS\nAtena (they/them)Atena is an Iranian settler studying political science with an interest in law and social justice. They have been writing stories since they were 15\, using it as a medium to express their thoughts and emotions. They are currently writing a novel and are passionate about supporting others in finding their voice. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Event Accessibility\nEmbark Sustainability events are free and open to Embark Sustainability members which includes Simon Fraser University undergraduate and graduate students\, as well as Embark Sustainability Associate Members. \nThis event will be held indoors at the Embark Studio\, room #1310 of the Student Union Building (SUB)\, SFU Burnaby.
