SUMMARY:Catalyst Cafe: Unleash Climate Curiosity with Embark Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:Getting involved in climate action can feel like a lot to take on at once. But\, if you’re looking to dip your toes in\, then join us in embarking on a journey to feeling more comfortable talking about our climate. Whether you’re a new student or well acquainted with the SFU campus we’re creating space for new relationships to take form. During one afternoon you’ll explore various avenues to begin your climate activism journey with Embark Sustainability as we together discover: \n\nour changing climate\, food production\, and how they relate – directly from our learning gardens\nyour strengths in social movement\nthe importance of community building\nwhat the concept of food justice entails while creating meals together\n\nDon’t miss an opportunity to meet folks curious about our climate and get to know Embark Sustainability. Register now and pass the information forward to someone who also might be interested. \nAGENDA \n4:00 pm – Meet at the Embark Studio \n5:00 pm – Gardens tour\, learn about starting your gardening journey \n5:30 pm – Community Kitchen\, create food with your fellow attendees \n6:30 pm – Social Movements Workshop\, learn how to play to your strengths in movements \n7:30 pm – Bye bye new friends! \n  \nLAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT \nThis event will take place on the unceded homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish)\, səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh)\, and kʷikʷəƛw̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Nations. Unceded means that this land was never surrendered\, transferred or relinquished in any way and\, as such\, the land remains sovereign Indigenous territory. The SUB is located south of Freedom Square between the Diamond Family Auditorium (DFA) and the Academic Quadrangle (AQ). \n  \nThe Embark Studio is: \nwheelchair accessible \nwelcomes all gender identities and expressions \na tree nut and peanut-free zone \na scent-free zone \nlocated near wheelchair accessible and gender-neutral restrooms \nprovides access to a quiet space for personal meditation\, reflection\, or prayers \nWe aim to make our events accessible to as many of our community members as possible.
