SUMMARY:Easy Eats! Community Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:Join Embark Sustainability\, Hi-FIVE and the SFSS Women’s Centre for this community kitchen to share struggle meal recipe ideas and explore how mental health can affect our relationships with eating and preparing food. You’ll get to: \n\n👯 Meet new people\n🧑‍🍳 Brainstorm and share recipes\n💬 Chat about community care and mental health\n😋 Share and enjoy a delish meal\n\nRSVP ASAP to secure your spot. Members of all gender identities and expressions are welcome 🙂 \nABOUT THE SPEAKERS \nNazafarin Esfandiari\, Hi-FIVE Coordinator \nMy name is Nazafarin\, and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I am a Health Sciences student\, and the current Hi-FIVE (Movement for Mental Health) Coordinator. \nI am from Iran\, and in our culture\, just like many other cultures\, food is a way of connecting back to ourselves and our communities. \nThere are many different ways in which food and mental well-being are interconnected. Our level of mental well-being can impact our eating patterns and vice versa. That is briefly why I am passionate about addressing this topic further\, and I look forward to hearing others’ experiences and perspectives as well. \nJamie Hill\, Embark Design and Communications Manager \nHi everyone\, my name is Jamie (she/they) and I’m a settler living on the ancestral homelands of the Qayqayt and Musqueam Nations\, otherwise known as New West. \nI have a passion for environmental communication\, exploring the intersections of anxiety\, grief and climate as a blog writer and editor for several publications as well as through my role as Design and Communications Manager at Embark. I believe students are often a driving force for change\, but also face complex outside forces when it comes to taking time to eat\, rest\, and engage in community care on top of all the pressures placed on them. I’m looking forward to exploring these intersections with you all and hopefully lessening the load! \nACKNOWLEDGMENTS \nThis event takes place on the unceded homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish)\, səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh)\, and kʷikʷəƛw̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Nations. \nEVENT ACCESSIBILITY \nEmbark Sustainability events are free and open to Embark members which includes Simon Fraser University undergraduate and graduate students\, as well as Embark Associate Members. \nThis event will be held indoors at the SUB Community Kitchen\, room #2125 of the Student Union Building (SUB)\, SFU Burnaby. Accessibility details include: \n\nUnfortunately\, some appliances and counter areas of this room are not accessible when using a wheelchair or other mobility aids.
