Volunteer Opportunities: May 2016

We have quite a few awesome opportunities right now for you to get involved with:

Join a Committee

Our Board of Directors has five committees: Relations, Governance, Finance and Audit, and Grants Allocation and Fund Development. We have some vacancies on each of these committees, and would love for you to get involved with them. More information about the committees can be found here.

If you would like to join a committee, please email our Executive Director, Josh Cairns, atjosh@embarksustainability.org

Get involved with the Learning Garden!
Are you looking to learn about growing local organic produce, meet people interested in gardening or share your knowledge with the SFU community? We have a volunteer opportunity to get involved with the Learning Garden, where you'll get outside and develop your gardening skills! For more information, read the volunteer posting here. If you are interested, attend our volunteer orientation on May 19th from 12.30 - 1.30pm at the Learning Garden (south-side of TASC1, SFU Burnaby).

Help us run our Food Recovery Program!
As you may have heard, we are super excited to launch a Food Recovery Program at SFU! Get involved with a passionate team and help collect and redistribute food to your fellow university members. Please send us an email at food@embarksustainability.org and we'll get you onboard!

Sustainability Scan
We are looking to launch a major survey of the university community to gather data on sustainability perceptions and behaviours – and to track how these are changing over time (by having the survey be completed each year). Not only will the university use this data, but we will be able to use it to figure out where there are opportunities for us to get involved and make a difference. If you'd like to be involved in the Sustainability Scan, attend our first meeting at Harbour Centre room 131 this Friday, May 11th at 10:00 a.m., or send us an email if you have questions (josh@embarksustainability.org).

Thanks! We look forward to having you get involved with Embark and positively shape the university! Any questions can be directed to our Executive Director, Josh Cairns, atjosh@embarksustainability.org
